Many of the memories of Portugal are kept alive here in the Adega. For José Brites, the "liitle house" serves as a place of refuge from the onslaught of the daily routine. Here, food, drink, music, and literature can be found. The ceiling has many artificats such as tools, oars, laterns, bells, and other items that were commonly used in the not too distant past. On a recent January night, with the temperature outside at zero degrees fahrenheit, inside the Adega the temperature was a balmy 80! The wood stove that José Brites built gives off a comfortable amount of heat to make all visitors feel welcome and right at home in his "little house." Nick Murgo 18 Jan 2000
